Healing Is Possible: Let Go and Let God

My favorite thing to talk about is the theme for the Women’s Day Celebration at my church on Sunday, May 1. I am honored and excited to be the guest speaker and the featured poetess of the day. As destiny would have it, this theme about healing was selected by the women of St. George’s from my self-published poetry book, Just Paula: A Few Words- Inside the Mind of Panic, Pain and HEALING. This all feels like showers of blessings “falling fresh on me”, especially poignant during Resurrection Season. Easter is a time of transformation. Timing is EVERYTHING!

I am feeling loved and supported by the sisterhood that blesses and sustains me on a regular basis. We sing together, pray together, mourn together, and share the desires of our hearts together. Our “little church on the corner with the BIG HEART” is a Healing Place where we can LET GO and LET GOD. Laughter, loving kindness, and loyal friendship are the hallmarks of our fellowship and worship. “Glorious things of Thee are spoken . . .” among those of us who gather in HIS name to give honor to Jesus, the Christ and to God, the Father.

The Celebration of Poetry Program that follows the church service is a first of its kind at St. George’s. Poems by ECW members past and present: America Nelson, Anna L. Shelton and Janis Leslie Evans are also being recited. Most of the readings will be performed by our young women: Renee Campbell, Milan Haight, Kierstin Oliver and Azinwi McKinney. Rehearsals have been fun and production plans are in full swing thanks to my daughter, Sylver Logan Sharp, and our company, Redhead Productions. The purple and green color theme is shining all over! My deepest appreciation and thanks go to the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of St. George’s who continue to support my “sacred contract with healing”,so profoundly. Joining the program as a special guest to read one of my “signature” poems, Love Is The Answer, is Mai Maiesha Rashad, a beautiful soul with the voice of an angel, my long time friend and encourager and an accomplished performer and international recording artist. All these things and more tell the story of the promises of God for my life, that is, #GodIsBigger.

Stay tuned for clips from these celebrations . . . HEALING is POSSIBLE.
